Be a bitch proudly or don't be a bitch. It's fine if the thing is genuinely private though. It's fine anyway, really, just pisses me off to see characters attacking other characters via the fictional filter on comments so that their friends can't step in and help them. Isolation seems like a bullying tactic to me. The characters who are brave enough to be bitches/threatening/angry/insulting without filtering get my respect. There's realism which makes it less annoying and then there's realism which makes it less fun. Here be an example of each, me hearties. REALISM TO MAKE GAMES LESS ANNOYING: full term pregnancies, realistic mental illness, realistic drug addiction, realistic portrayal of all characters of all sexualities, ethnic minorities and genders REALISM THAT MAKES GAMES LESS FUN: capping certain characters bc omg statistics. you don't even need to appear credible, mods, you don't have an audience or people calling up your ass to complain about how you're being totally unrealistic with your population stats. TV? caring less about statistics and shit than you are. writers have been fucking with statistics since the novel existed, and I almost all of you have got to say somewhere in your mod journal 'we care about writing'. I spent all last night trying to get your point of view, and I do get the realism part; what I don't get, is why population statistics have become so important. And therein lies the rub with what I only came to thing of as underhandedly homophobic after hours of thinking it out. Population statistics are always the argument for capping gay characters, and we're supposed to sit back and say 'oh, well, if it's statistics then I guess that's ok', but we should be questioning why statistics are so important. I once saw the rules for a game based on an island of X-men and they were limiting the number of gay characters based on realism; and I accepted this argument without question, bc who doesn't want realism? Well. Why is it so important? Why is it that you can take a bunch of fictional characters, steal them and write them interacting together, or create a world in which vampires rule or something, but you can't break statistics? Or make them up? This isn't just about one game, it's about all you mods out there who cling to this. You're not bad mods, IMO, not at all; I just don't get it. So tell me, why are statistics so important to RP? Why are they its saving grace? To me, they just seem like more cause for argument, and an excuse to hate on certain kinds of character and then wave the statistics flag. Because I don't see you capping wealthy characters (in games where wealth should not be the norm, ie city/town). 12 posted some fucking cats|i can has comment?

But seriously. This whole community has just been awesome. I was looking for one specific storyline when I was posting madly in rps and I was recruited, honestly, because there was one person in the community I was looking for. As it turns out, nothing ever came of that storyline, but now I have so many fantastic IC friendships that I just have to brag about and thank you for. So here goes. hankscolin - THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT. lmao. You dragged me here. But really. You'll be the first one on my list because really, Colin was the only one that talked to Rachael, and gave a shit. And tried to be her friend. They've been such a sweet pair of friends and no matter how many times I go dead on the IM (sorry I'm so distracted!) I know that Col will say, "dead." and I'll be like, "shit!" And type up something really fast. But it's just the way that they can talk about the most random shit and laugh about it, and have real arguments like they would have when they were dating, and it's just great. ♥ flwrs - OH. My god. So I found those new pictures of Brandon on ONTD and was ogling for like, TWENTY MINUTES. And I felt weird because I was like, ennnhh, that means Rachael was ogling for like, twenty minutes. But then I chose not to write that out because how weird would that be? I love your Brandon though. I'm actually planning on seeing them live in January in Chicago, and I'm so much more pumped now than before.
